Legal Separation

Separation is not annulment and it is not divorce. While you are legally separated, you are still considered married by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. You are not allowed to remarry and you may be responsible for contracts your spouse enters into, unless specifically negated by the terms of the separation agreement.

If you are considering filing for divorce, talk to me first. I am Massachusetts family law attorney John Hoffman. My offices are located in Sharon and I represent clients throughout the surrounding area, including the South Shore. I can answer all of your questions regarding legal separation. For more than 28 years, my law firm has been recognized for providing compassionate, effective family law services at a reasonable fee.
